CBS Monday Night 5/9/05

So last night I watched the CBS Monday night comedy line-up; "King Of Queens", two episodes of "Everybody Loves Raymond", and "Two And A Half Men".

Even though its been on the air for years, this was the first time I ever watched "King Of Queens" and I don't believe I have been missing much. The comedy was mediocre at best and the acting was sub-par. I am a big fan of Kevin James but this show definitely doesn't due him any justice.

"Everybody Loves Raymond" is the most watched comedy on TV and I think that's mostly due to it being in its last season. Neither of the episodes were that great. Seems like the same old story line on the new shows that I see
every night on the re-runs. Brad Garrett was right for holding out for more money at the beginning of the season, his character Robert by far is the funniest on the show. Marie (Doris Roberts) is so annoying ... with any luck someone will tell her off in one of the last episodes.

"Two And A Half Men" is one of my favorite shows and last night was a pretty good one. Charlie Sheen (Charlie), Jon Cryer (Alan), and Angus T. Jones (Jake) have great on screen chemistry. Angus' character makes the show but they all help make the show as funny as it is.

"Joey" 5/5/05

Well I have finally watched a show worthy of a poor review ... "Joey" NBC's "Friends" spin-off. What a waste of a half hour. Matt Leblanc's character is not the same without Chandler, Ross, Phoebe, Rachel and Monica around to create that chemistry we loved for 10 seasons.

On this episode of "Joey," Carmen Electra guest starred as herself. For some reason she has always had a crush on Joey and tried to convince him to sleep with her. Coincidentally Joey has just entered a committed relationship and has to resist the temptation to be with Carmen - not the most original story line and definitely not the most interesting.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition 5/1/05

Every Sunday ABC shows lead in ratings for the night and I am one of the millions of Americans that help them.

Tonight was no different as I started the night with a new episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." Each week
this show picks a family struck with tragedy and remodels their broken homes into their dream homes. This week Ty and the crew chose a family who's father was blind as a result of a shooting at his work.

The Extreme Makeover crew was phenomenal as always in turning what was a pretty sad looking house into an amazing home. They custom designed the home to help (the dad) "see" his way around the house. From a carpeted walkway allowing him to know where he was safe to walk to a computerized system able to turn all the lights on and off among many other incredible things, the house was unbelievable convenient for someone who has lost their sight.

What To Watch Week of 5/2/05

tvguide.com

Since its the first week of May you will see all new shows on all week long. Yes finally a week of no re-runs!! Here's my picks of what to watch and when:

Monday at 8pm check out "Fear Factor" on NBC. Four pairs of best friends go head-to-head for the cash! Then at 9pm check out "Everybody Loves Raymond" on CBS. There's not too many new episodes left as this is the
final season for the show. Immediately after that on CBS its "Two & A Half Men" which is my favorite sitcom. End primetime back on NBC with "Medium" at 10pm.

Tuesday at 8pm its all about "The Gilmore Girls" on the WB. At 9pm its the show I have quickly become addicted to, "Law & Order: SVU" on NBC. Right after "SVU" is the latest installment in the "Law & Order" series, "Trial By
Jury" also on NBC.

Wednesday at 8pm be sure to watch "Lost" on ABC. At 9pm its a show I have heard great things about but have not yet checked out "Revelations" on NBC. Then stay with NBC at 10pm for the original "Law & Order."

Thursday on FOX if you're a fan of "The O.C." you are in luck! Check out back to back new episodes at 8pm & 9pm! Then at 10pm flip over to NBC for "ER" and remember ... only a few more episodes till Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) leaves the cast.

Make sure you check back later in the week for reviews of some of the shows you may have missed!!

What To Watch This Weekend 4/29/05

tvguide.com

Ok so you guys have been asking for some TV picks to go with
the weekly re-caps of select shows so here it goes!!  Nicole's TV picks for
this weekend!!

Friday "Hope and Faith" is a MUST SEE on ABC at 9pm.  (You can also catch a re-run of the show at 9:30pm!)  Kelly Rippa is hysterical!  After
"Hope & Faith" switch it over to CBS at 10pm for quot;Numbers".  This is a new show for CBS and is actually quite good.  Its a cop drama with a weird twist - every show has a crime solved using math.  (Trust me its not as corny as it sounds.)

Saturday is a night full of re-runs so take your pick.  I'd definitely go
with "Law & Order SVU" at 9pm on NBC.  Re-runs or not, its a GREAT show.  Even "SNL" is a re-run this week with Hilary Swank hosting and 50 Cent as the musical guest.

On Sunday its as easy as A, B, C.  8pm its "Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition".  At 9pm a new "Desperate Housewives" and at 10pm a new "Grey's Anatomy".  So that's what's on this weekend!  Enjoy.

Law & Order 4/20/05

With so many different "Law and Order" shows the original still is the best! Last nights episode was no exception and I was please to see that a character from one of my other favorite shows, Michael Imperioli was a guest star on this show! Of course Michael is best known for his role as Christopher on HBO's "The Sopranos" - can't wait for that to start up ... 7 months and counting!!

Any way if you missed last nights show ... The murders of an infamous porn actress and a maverick publisher, Devries plunge Detectives Fontana and his temporary partner Falco into a sensational case that spirals upward to an ambitious and powerful police commissioner who's up for the nation's top security post. But as District Attorney Branch warns, McCoy and the police must tread lightly given the high-profile players -- especially when they discover a more intimate link ... like the commissioner is having an affair with BOTH women. Any way, it turns out that the comissioner had a cop that "owed him" kill both women. The commissioner is found guilty in the end and is sentenced to 25 years to life, which he clearly deserves.

Grey's Anatomy 4/10/05

"Grey's Anatomy" is a new show on ABC that airs Sundays at 10pm. I watched the show for the first time last week and agree with all the rave reviews I have been hearing. I am curious as to why ABC has moved or cancelled "Boston Legal" which normally airs in this spot but I guess that's besides the point.

Any way the episode definitely kept my interest ... When the annual bicycle messenger race takes place in Seattle, the hospital emergency room fills with an assortment of injuries, causing the interns to compete for the most severe cases. I'm not quite sure as to why you would want to have the worst of the cases but I guess it makes you look better to the resident doctors.

Meanwhile, Derek and Burke compete for chief of surgery, and while Derek continues to pursue Meredith romantically, a patient flirts with George.

Not since NBC's "ER" has a hospital show received such great audience response.

Saturday Night Live 4/9/05

Last night I watched one of the longest running shows in television history ... Saturday Night Live, now known simply as SNL. Last night was an average episode, although overall I think the show is losing its steam. The current cast is no where near as talented as the casts of the past.

Cameron Diaz was the host as she was promoting her new show on MTV, "Trippin'" and Green Day was the musical guest. As an added bonus there were a few other special guest stars on this weeks show. Justin Timberlake starred in a skit, obviously there to support his woman - Cameron Diaz for those of you that have been living under a rock. Also on the show were Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon. I am sure it wasn't just a coincidence that their new movie "Fever Pitch" opened this weekend.

Green Day rocked the show performing one of my favorite songs, "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and they were awesome.
